Պատմվածքում Սուրոյի մասին է պատմում նրա ընկերը։ Առաջինը, ինչ հասկանում ենք Սուրոյի ու նրա ընտանիքի մասին՝ նրանք փողի կարիք ունեին։ Ուրիշ երեխաները հեքիաթային ու անփող կյանք էին երազում, իսկ Սուրոն՝ ընդհակառկը՝ գումար։
